THE PARADOX OF LIFE

If you ask a generous sample of people, anywhere in the world, what are their five main desires in life, I would bet the vast majority of the people asked will have all five things in common. Most of us want the same things out of life. Here are my five:

◦ To be loved by others, have someone to love and to be helpful to others

◦ To be happy and satisfied

◦ To eat well, to be healthy and to be compassionately taken care of when not healthy

◦ To enjoy and appreciate nature

◦ To not suffer from extreme climates - to be not too warm or not too cold

Isn’t it so disappointing that most people on this planet don’t get to realize their desires for most of their life?

Most people are not happy because they are stuck in jobs they don’t like, they get little satisfaction from their daily existence, they fail at love or struggle to find real love, they rarely receive loving attention from others, they’re disincentivized from helping others, they eat poisonous unhealthy food mainly because of their poor financial situation, they chronically suffer negative health consequences (not just from the food supply) from their clothing being toxic, from the air they breathe and from the water they drink, they are treated like a commodity when ill, they don’t get enough heat in their homes to keep them warm in the winter or they’re made to tolerate extreme heat conditions in hot climates, they live in habitats that shut out nature, work in unnatural environments and don’t have ample time to appreciate the beauty of nature.

How did we get here?

Why are the conditions of our existence in complete contrast to our desires?

Why don’t we even know how to express and resolve our displeasure, dissatisfaction, and disappointments in life?

Why is it that the worldwide economic system we have come up with allows only those with sufficient money to achieve and sustain these common desires?

Why have we been so brain washed to believe that this is the best we can do?

We must remain optimistic and believe in a future that is better than the present.
